It's the little things in life...
It was difficult to contain my excitement last night when I found the television channel Hub. They have Jem!!! Jem and the Holograms were my idols when I was little. I wanted to be "truly outrageous" just like her. So, in my excitement I tried to find another show I've been missing. Boy Meets World. ABC Family used to air it in the afternoon and to my surprise now they air it early in the morning... Thank God for the DVR!

Some photos of Dexter's life.
I love my sweet puppy Dexter, probably more than normal. Here are some pictures from his life with Matt and I. From the day we got him, to some recent photos. He's a chihuahua mix (we think with Australian cattle dog). Now, I'll got back to watching my lifetime original movie.
2 months old... the day he came home from the rescue.
so tiny in Matt's arms
He is on a standard bed pillow. So tiny!
Pretty soon he could no long fit under that shelf and he was no longer afraid of the cat.
Looking very naughty.
first bath
He was too tired to get unstuck.
getting bigger...
First sweater and the awkward, gawky phase.
First halloween... Yellow submarine!
GIANT ears
He fit inside a pumpkin!
He loves chewing on baby pumpkins
so sassy
taking a break at the park
enjoying mommy's bud light lime (of course I didn't actually let him drink any)
such a big boy now!
he barely fits on daddy's lap!
A few things I've written...
Just thought I'd share a few food pieces I wrote for 5280 Magazine:
A look at a very strange beer from Strange Brewery
My favorite happy hour in Denver
A delicious dish from a great restaurant
All about tuna melts... my favorite meal!
A great chef welcomes me into his home
Thanks for reading!

Things I love... part 1
Here are a few things I've found around the web that I love:
I tried painting this today, but it doesn't look as nice.
It's bigger on the inside.
But, I will allow you to judge me as well.
I think it would be really fun to live in this house.
I think this is the best wedding invitation I have ever seen. I'm a book nerd.
He's Ron F-ing Swanson!
Stefan is my favorite.
Hello World
I've made several attempts at starting a blog. Part of me dislikes the idea of writing a blog because I went to school for journalism and, for the most part, blogs are the death of journalists. Then, I remember that I spent so much time in school, so I should continue writing and I need to create my own opportunities.
I recently started over. After a disastrous thesis-writing experience in Denver, my boyfriend, Matt, and I ended up in San Diego. Partly because I had to get out of Denver, but also because we love the ocean. We packed up my Prius and a tiny U-Box from U-haul and drove across a few states with two pets and landed in California.
Now, here I sit in San Diego. We arrived on June 30th. Matt got a job by July 24th. It is October 7th and I still don't have a job. I've had several interviews, most for jobs I am extremely qualified for, but that doesn't seem to help. I've been rejected from retail and hostessing. But, I move on and apply for the next job. I lost out on a dream job, lost out on jobs I specialize in and lost out on jobs I don't care about. But, I continue on every day because that is what I have to do.
So, for the time being, I stay at home and cook dinner. I paint and play with the dog. I apply for jobs. One will come around eventually. If I keep telling myself it will eventually come true.

Dexter keeps me company every day. He is a little cuddle monster.
